GM Ascend is OHM’s signature commitment to shaping the next generation of leaders - individuals who will not only run our hotels, but embody our values, elevate our brand, and carry forward the legacy of service, integrity, innovation, and excellence.
As a GM Ascend Program Associate, the participant undertakes a multi-phased rotational journey across core hotel functions, with increasing exposure to commercial strategy, revenue performance, and guest-centric decision-making.
The role combines hands-on operational leadership with commercial insight, enabling participants to understand how service quality, guest satisfaction, revenue optimization, and profitability are interconnected. Participants actively contribute to performance improvement initiatives, guest experience enhancement, and business reviews, under close mentorship from senior hotel leadership.
GM Ascend is a guided pathway designed to help promising individuals realize their full leadership potential. It signals a pivotal moment in our evolution: an investment in people who have shown the spark of leadership, the courage to grow, and the ambition to serve our guests and communities with distinction.

The GM Ascend Program is an accelerated leadership development pathway designed to prepare high-potential internal talent for future General Manager roles. Through structured rotations, cross-property and cross-country exposure, and targeted commercial and leadership development, participants gain a holistic understanding & exposure of hotel operations, revenue generation, guest experience, and business performance required to lead full-service hospitality assets.
Participants also will take part in business reviews and performance discussions, lead improvement initiatives, and engage in development learning tracks.
The program duration is typically 12 to 18 months, depending on the rotation structure, mobility, and individual performance progression.
The GM Ascend cohort is expected to include approximately 8 to 12 participants, allowing for a focused, high-quality development experience and close mentorship from senior leadership.
Following the official launch, employees will be invited to apply through a structured application process. Applications will go through screening, selection, and assessment stages to identify candidates with strong leadership potential, commercial curiosity, and readiness for accelerated development.
Yes. We value transparency, so alignment with your line manager is a prerequisite for applying to the program.
Participation in GM Ascend will be considered an internal transition. Upon successful selection and enrollment into the program, you will assume the GM Ascend Program Associate role. Arrangements for backfilling your current position will be managed based on business needs and operational considerations.
Remuneration-related changes will be reviewed and evaluated on a case-by-case basis, in line with role scope, responsibilities, performance, and applicable policies.
Applying to GM Ascend reflects ambition and engagement. Not being selected does not negatively impact an individual’s current role or future opportunities. Development feedback will be provided where possible.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be considered for future Hotel General Manager positions and senior operational leadership roles within the organization. Participation in GM Ascend does not guarantee appointment to a specific General Manager role; rather, the program prepares participants for future opportunities based on the various geographical business needs, individual readiness and performance, hence full mobility is a mandatory requirement.
Existing General Managers play a critical role as mentors, sponsors, and enablers. Their involvement includes supporting and, where relevant, contributing to candidate assessment by sharing insights on readiness and development needs, ensuring participation is balanced with operational priorities, and maintaining strong, positive relationships with rising talent regardless of selection outcomes. Their guidance and role-model leadership are instrumental in developing confident, capable future leaders.
As OHM expands, strengthens its premium positioning, and elevates operational excellence, the need for a robust leadership bench has never been more critical. GM Ascend directly supports this need by identifying, developing, and preparing high-potential internal talent for future GM roles.
